IN THE CHURCHYARD. Could be shaft of cross by the churchyard gates. Oldest memorial is a square stool-like tomb by footpath with the inscription - ‘1659. DONOR REEVE’S. TO MB.’ S of the church - John Goldshraw received a mortal wound Feb. 26 1840 died the next day, aged 25. Art Nouveau cross containing ball with beautifully carved head and trees in relief - Rev. Henry Edward Beech d1906 & wife Elizabeth Mary d1935 who had the memorial erected. John Lomax’s headstone has the inscription ‘His widow after paying his just debts, To his lamented name this stone erects’ (VB p176).

Smith of Wildpark, Derbys. died of Adecline March 11 1801 leaving a young family. ii) Elizabeth 2nd wife of James Bakewell daughter of W.M. Towers Miners of Knipersley she died a few months after marriage in the prime of her life of apoplexy Oct. 27 1802.
