Ernest Byfield Hall of Hales Hall d1955. IN THE CHURCHYARD. Modern chest-tomb with coat of arms - Nora Constance Hall d1916 aged 9 months, William Byfield Hall d1937 aged 27, Emma Byfield Hall d1946, Ernest Byfield Hall d1953.

Fragments of an alabaster incised slab in the floor inscribed ‘M.C. quarter + octo’ (1408) & incised effigy of a priest in his chasuable, could be one Hubert de Ridware (HR p7, but not mentioned in SHOS). Chest tomb to Richard Cotton 1502 & wife, Joan. Rev. Timothy Deren or Deron d1695, he was a benefactor. (HR p7 mentions Rev. Thomas Bree & his sister Mary 1759). Thomas Strong-in-the-Arme d1778, & wife, Mary d1789. C18 blank tablet with chisel marks. Warren Cooper d1844 & son Edward-Warren Cooper d1840 (HR p7). Rev. Edward Willes d1845. John William son of Rev. Edward Willes d1847 aged 14, killed in an accident (HR p7). Amelia Frances Cooper wife of Philip Arden Cooper d1877. Rev. Philip Arden Cooper d1879. Rev. FURNISHINGS. Font. Chalice and Paten that were lost now on loan to the St. Mary Centre, Lichfield. Paintings on two oak panels depicting the life of Christ probably from the dado of a screen or the parapet of a rood loft. The Gaubey Seats. NOTE. Remains of the stone stairway into the Rood Loft. Old church cross; a stone stump - a plaque says it was restored as a thanks-offering for peace in 1919, also WW1 Roll of Honour, two died in WW2, they were John Wainwright & Albert Goring. Mural tablets - Mary wife of Joseph Riley d1775 & Rev. Edward Moy d1778 (HR p7). Mary wife of Thomas Dicken daughter of Thomas & Mary Strong i’ th’ Arm d1776. Chest tomb to John Strong i’ th’ Arm d1797 & 1st wife Mary d1784 & 2nd wife Mary d1794 & 3rd wife Mary d1797. Chest tomb to Thomas Strong i’ th’ Arm of Blythfarm in Mavesyn Ridware parish d1804 & wife Sarah d1806 also their children John d1785 aged 2 & Elizabeth d1795 aged 9 months, also Edward Strong i’ th’ Arm formerly of Blythbury Priory d1867 at Bootle & wife Martha d1861 at Rock Ferry. Thomas Strong i’ th’ Arm he emigrated to America 1803 d1852 at Chicago & wife Maria Hollis. Chest-tomb - William Jaggard of Hamstall Hall died Feb. 11 1869.

CHURCH. St Werburgh MEMORIALS. Vertically placed coffin lid with cross in relief & two mutilated heads of husband & wife c.1300. Alabaster effigy of John de Hanbury Knt d1303. Large block of alabaster, part of an incised slab showing head of a prince or king placed against wall in nave, perhaps only temporarily in the church. Brass to Sir John Cheyne, d1408. Chest tomb topped with incised slab with figures of Ralph Adderley d1595 & two wives, around the base figures of their seven boys, four girls & four who died in infancy. Thomas Villiers, descendent of Villierses of Brokisby, Leics. d1614 & son Edward d1666 & his son Thomas d1686, & that Thomas’s eldest son Thomas d1666, & his 2nd son John d1726, & his 3rd son Isaac d1719, & his only daughter Dorothy d1720. Unusual effigy of Sir Charles Egerton d1624, lying on his side. Coloured bust of Katherine Agarde d1628. Coloured bust of her daughter, Anne Wollocke d1657. There was a similar bust of her father George Agarde d1608, but is lost. William D.....ank, son of a Fauld yeoman & wife Elizabeth, he gave £10, also John Allock, a Cotton yeoman gave £5 - that £15 passed to Christopher Allcock, who gave it in turn to the poor 1660. Coloured bust to Dorothy, daughter of Richard Sale, & wife to Edward Villiers d1665. Stone tablet bearing arms, no inscription. George Timbrill d1703, he left 10 shillings to the poor & other monies. Ralph Adderley of Cotton d1751 & wife Lettice, daughter of Thomas Kynnersley of Loxley d1766 & children Lettice & Jane. Rev Hugh Bailye A.M d1833 & wife Ann d1834. Arthur Harper, Capt 9th Regt of Foot d1838 at New Lodge, aged 29, also Samuel Thomas Harper d1831 Ackyab, E. Indies, aged 24. Relief wall mural - John Wilson d1839 at Barton-under-Needwood, leaving a widow & five infant daughters. John Henry Bott, he was accidently drowned with two school friends while bathing at Seaforth, nr Liverpool 26 Aug 1840, aged 12 & 11 months, also his brother Charles Edward Bott, 2nd Lieut 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade died of illness after five days arriving at Toronto, Canada 1849 aged 23 also the two other children of John & Susanna Maria Bott, Frederick William & Frances Alethea Catharine, died in their infancy & are buried in the churchyard. Mary wife of Thomas Chawner of Denstone Hall d1842, he was a missionary in the South Sea islands & massacred by the natives of Erromango 1839. Robert John Harper, Deputy Lieut of the County d1846 at New Lodge. Georgina Wilson 2nd daughter of John Wilson d1847. Lanzoni of Milan on 25 Nov. 1990 when she attended the dedication of the memorial at the Crater to those who lost their lives in the Fauld Explosion, her uncle, Pte. A. Lanzoni was one of the dead.
