At the Baptist Chapel in Darkhouse Lane was a memorial to Pte. Tom Barrett d1917. The Chapel was demolished and it is now at Whittington Barracks (TB Jan. 1981 p29).

Large red marble platform over a vault, once topped with a white angel statue - John Slater M.P. of The Elms at Boundary, he collasped and died in the House of Commons Feb. 5 1935, there followed a huge funeral at this church.
