CORRECTIONS (at June 2005) p3 Bagot Arms Inn, butter cross, Coach and Horses Inn are all the village of Abbots Bromley. The boundary of new Hoar Cross CP follows the township boundary until it forks off S of Parkgate; thus creating a new tiny sub-division on the N side of Birchwood Farm sub-division. p10 Betley - earliest surviving churchyard grave is that of Jane Salt d1684 (from survey by Phil Coup) p54 Betley Local History Society lapsed shortly after founding in 1980 and was relaunched as Betley and District Local History Society in 1998 by David Thompson and Phil Coup (info Phil Coup). p66 in quote from Bruce Braithwaite byond should be beyond p69 in bottom map Acton Hill is misregistered. p104 in quote from Weston E Vernon-Yonge likley should be likely p113 Map of Norton - the lower township should be labelled NORTON p139 There should be a sub-division called Enson House after ENSON CHAPELRY entry. It corresponds - map on p137 - to N protrusion of Enson chapelry; this was removed to Marston CP in 1934?. ENSON CHAPELRY entry relates to the rest of Enson, and thus have a sub-division heading called Enson. p145 Stoke maps - the SW township should be labelled BUCKNALL p151 enbolden sub-division heading Sideway p156 enbolden sub-division heading Boothen pp157,163 In enlarged square maps Great Fenton label should be moved slightly to left. And Christ Church label inserted in left corner sub-division. p157 the E township should be labelled PENKHULL pp160-162 CLAYTON and SEABRIDGE TOWNSHIPS - were in fact in Bucknall CED between 1889-1892, thereafter in Stone CED. p161 Rowley Wood. Strangely, Priory, Westlands in Clayton Griffith are correct in this respect. p225 KNUTTON TOWNSHIP. It appears no Local Board for Knutton received parliamentary consent, afterall, despite ratepayers voting to form one (Staffordshire Advertiser Oct 9 1858 p1 col 3. Oct 16 1858 p7 col 3). p233 The ‘LG.’ subheading should be returned to form new paragraph.
